Just found out a friend of ours has applied for some grant money to construct a greenhouse and raised garden beds for folks with special needs, wheelchairs,etc...
Once again I volunteered to gather some info. SO HELP..
Does anyone know of any sites that spell out the requirements of access widths of doors, hts. of working areas, etc...?
Saw what they were drawing up and knew it wouldnt work.
So hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.............................Dennis...................
Need some links/ info
I wonder if the guidelines are federal or state-mandated, if you're concerned about that. Or are you more just wondering about realistic measurements for the various things?
Looks like there's been some talk at "that other site". Maybe you can contact one of the writers there since some of the links referenced don't work: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/accessible/msg0808424016771.html and some other helpful info for the wheelchair-bound: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/accessible/msg1008474510547.html
Thanks Gardenwife, for the links. Yeah, the state and federal guidelines are what Im looking for.
Our friend is a great grant writer, but once a grant is turned down because a work area is two inches to high or short then it becomes more open for closer inspection the next time you submit it.
Oh well we have some time to get all our ducks in a row.
...............Thanks again..........Dennis...........
