Blueberry - Sunshine Blue

Rutherfordton, NC(Zone 7a)

How do I over-winter my blueberry bush? It's in a pot and was healthy all summer. I moved it onto my carport in anticipation of the first "freeze" (North Carolina style) and it immediately shed all its leaves. Should I plant it in ground, or is this a natural habit?

Blueberries are pretty hardy. They grow wild here. I'd plant it in the ground.

also blueberrys like there feet damp. the best wild blueberrys i know of are growing in a swamp

I have wild ones as well as cultivated high bush and mine are outside all year with no protection from the cold.

Vickie, Since it's in a pot, I'd put the whole pot in the ground, and mulch over it heavily, maybe 4" of mulch.
