Really dry skin

Does anyone have a good lotion or solution for dry skin. Last winter I went crazy itching the front of my shins!!!. The skin around my finger nails cracked and I went through lots of lotion. Hoping you all know of some good ones. Thought I would ask now before it all starts again!
