Chocolate Royale Salpiglossis

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Here's a photo of some deep mahogany salpiglossis I grow from seed each year. Here's where I purchased the seed. I'm sure it's available elsewhere, as well: http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/search.asp?keyword=salpiglossis

The white and this must have been gorgeous, Carol.

Yes, they are really beautiful with something to highlight them. As with most dark flowers, their beauty is lost among the leaves, otherwise.

Beautiful and it's a great picture because it really shows off the flowers.

Ohhhhhhhhhh.....I've never had that one.

I'd consider the needs of salpiglossis similar to those of petunias. Sometimes our mild climate and heavy rainfalls can really ruin a season of salpiglossis, as was the case this year. However, I'm not sure if salpiglossis is as fond of hot weather as the petunia. Maybe some of our hot weather folks can give us some input.
