Is it too late for me to divide my hosta here in zone 5? Also can they take poor soil and morning sun? I just love Dave's Garden. If you want to know something, all you have to do is ask here.
When to divide hoata's?
No go right ahead; now is an ideal time to do it in zone 5.
In fact I divided some yesterday.

A local garden "expert" advised me not to divide hostas after they've grown beyond 3-4" because they would look wilted for the rest of the season although contrary to his opinion I have successfully divided my hostas almost any time of the year without any problems, in fact I just divided one that was at least a foot tall and all three new plants are doing fine, no wilt at all---so much for expert advice.
