What tool do you use to cut glass with?

I found two pieces of glass approximately 30"x36" sitting by the dumpsters today. What kind of tool would be the easiest to use to cut them into smaller sections? Would I'd be better off letting a glass shop cut them? My next step will be to stain them for garden markers. I figure I'd better get through the cutting part first, before I post my staining question. Thanks in advance.
