What is this and what do I do to get rid of them? I sprayed them with water before I realized they were live. They are eating the leaves on my lemon tree. I don`t know if they came from a web but there is one in the leaf curl where one was. Some of them were larger than this one. The head is large with two slit eyes and the body is wet. I never had these before.I will try to get a better photo.

A swallowtail larva!
Busybee - if you want beautiful butterflies next spring, leave at least a few - if mature, the tree won't miss that many leaves, trust me!
It's most likely an "orange dog", the larva of Papilio cresphontes, the Giant Swallowtail.

Thank you very much,Lophophora. That is a beautiful butterfly to be such a ugly worm. I will be looking forward to them, (the butterflies but not the worms.) Can`t have one without the other though.
