Just wondered if anyone knows of a program to convert pictures into cross stitch charts?

I've tried printing a grid over the picture/enlarging the picture then printing a grid/upsizing/colouring by hand, but there must be an easier way. I'm thinking of something like scanning the picture, then a programme just draws the grid the size I want and colours complete squares the appropriate colour. Anyone know of any such thing?
