i planted 3 dahlias near each other. two are pink and one is yellow. the oddest thing happened though. one of the pink plants has bloomed a yellow flower. how does this happen?

Dahlias are also very interbred and prone to sporting new colours and forms.
Did you plant tubers or seed?

Did you purchase these tubers this Spring? It could be that one was mislabeled?
perhaps i wasn't clear in my message. one of the pink flowering plants, that already has pink flowers on it, blossomed a single yellow flower. Baa's hyperlink was very informative. thanks for your concern. debi
