It is lime, I found it at a nursery yesterday. I had never heard of this variety before, either. I also got pineapple mint earlier this season, so if I can find an orange-flavored herb I'll have a tropical mix!

Then may I suggest tangerine sage Salvia elegans and orange thyme. Both smell strongly of orange.

Thank you, Baa, I'll definitely be looking for those. The nursery I was at yesterday only had wedgewood and lime thyme, so I'll have to try a different place. As for the sage, I don't know if it will be reliably hardy here.
Patty - yes, I think I tried chocolate mint years ago, but I couldn't smell the chocolate at all. I planted it in my father's garden, got married and left home - leaving a legacy of a huge mint patch!

Congrats on the lime thyme! I just bought an orange balsam thyme and an orange spice thyme (I had never seen this before but found it at Maymont's Herbs Galore last week in Richmond VA)to go with my coconut thyme and lemon thyme. I had a lime thyme last year, but it didn't make it through the winter, and now I am looking for another one to go with all of my others. I bought an orange mint at the same festival, and an orange scented geranium, so my deck smells like Florida even though I live 900 miles north of there!

I've got lots of orange mint plants for trade if anyone is interested. Am also growing lime basil from seed this year and have a lime balm plant expected through mail order some time soon. Can't wait to see what all this citrus herbs taste and smell like!

karen7,
Do you have pineapple mint? If not, would you be interested in trading some of that for some of your orange mint? Susan
