Wow!! What great photos! What kind of camera did you use? It looks like you were able to get pretty close to the animals. Thanks for sharing.

the camera I use is a Canon EOS 600 AF SLR. Attached to the front was a Sigma 100mm macro AF with a x2 coverter. This gives me a good all round lens for taking animal shots and very close shots of flowers and bats. The macro facility along with the x2 converter lets me go as close as .5 inch from the subject. After I have breakfast I'll scan a shot of a bat's face to let you see how close I can get.
The animals were in a park/reserve which is the same size as the whole of Ireland. approximately 300 miles north to south and 50 miles west to east. For any Europeans in Dave's place that's about 180km X 75km.
glad you liked them.
FYI my albums have had over 8000 hits since I made them in early December 2000.

hi all
I have just updated my safari animal photo album with more shots.
the link below is of a brilliant dawn sky I saw one morning while out watching bats coming home to roost.

I'm working on the flower album as I write. I'll let you all know when it's done.

Mark, that photo is just incredible! How lucky you are! Lisa
hey Justme
I'm not lucky! It's just that my interests can take place over 24 hours. Dawn to see bats come home, day time for gardening and taking photos, evenings watching bats leave their roost and into the night looking for feeding bats with my bat detector.
I'll have to try meet with you next time I visit New Orleans or it it way to far?
