Night Time Visitor

Wapakoneta, OH(Zone 5b)

My cats were at the back door making such a fuss that I had to go see what was the problem. Out there just about 3 feet from the door was this quite large raccoon. AND we live in town. I tried to shoo him off but he was having none of it.

Then I realied he was after a garbage sack I hadn't gotten out to the garage. Needless to say I yanked it inside real fast. Then he went away.

I am glad the cats saw him or I would have had a real mess to clean up in the morning.

So our opossum seems to be gone but now we have the raccoon back.

Just can't win.

Feel lucky, naturegal! Me and DD had a large skunk come into our campsite one nite recently! It wasn't like we could "shoo!" it off or nuttin either! I could just see us getting told off by the wrong end of that critter!

Oh, man, glad that wasn't at the Roundup, Shoe. LOL Raccoons love living in town; they can use the sewer system as a subway and a den. In our old town we used to see them popping out of the curbside street drains every evening.

"Time to make the doughnuts, Ricky." ;)

lol Shoe...Glad it wasn't a skunk here!
What did you do, have to wait until it decided to leave?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, I think the lantern had kinda blinded it and it didn't know we were there...it was hangin' out near the fire, smelling where we had just cooked hot dogs and mac and cheese. I eventually took the lantern and took two steps AWAY from the skunk, scuffling my feet to make a noise, and it went its merry way, probably to the next campsite! (Surely it was campground trained!)
Whew, breathing a sigh of relief!

Shoe, I'm sure everyone else was breathing a sigh of relief too or we would have to change your name to Sheeeeew.

I keep a bungie cord to fasten the trash can lid down. No loose bags outside whatoever. Only recycle bags out on the trash pickup day.

Raccoons, stray dogs and who know who else will come by and make a HUGE mess!
