This is from Sarah Raven's book "The Bold & Brilliant Garden". A book of proof, that hot, bright colors can indeed work in combination.
Christopher Lloyd is asked to write the forward. Part of which he states,"Raven embraces the excitement of juxtaposing strong colours: purple with vermilion, tangerine with magenta, crimson with gold-'one strong colour bang next door to another'. But this does not imply a riotous free-for-all. I myself often quail before the uncontrolled and undigested mixtures you often see, in June, of different moisture-loving and generally Candelabra primulas. 'Don't plant them in a general colour razzmatazz' Raven enjoins. "Bold colour panels-vermilion block next to a bright pink, a tangerine next to magenta-will have a much stronger impact'. Point made.
