Can any one tell me about this bush?. I just purchased it and all it had was the name. It is about 2 feet high and has some white spikes. Hope you can help me.
Clethra Hummingbird
Clethras like moist roots, acidic soil and a partially shaded spot. They can get close to 8' tall; most stay in the 4-6 feet range. The spicy, fragrant flowers (they can be white/pale pink to red) are attractive to birds, butterflies - and bees (something to take into consideration when you are looking at possible locations for it.) They're hardy to zones much farther north, so it should do well for you.
They're one of my favorite deciduous shrubs :)
Thanks go_vols, It really is pretty. I hope it does well. Meems
Clethra 'Hummingbird' is a dwarf and shouldn't get more than 2' to 3' tall. I am growing it in my USDA zone 4a garden and it does just fine.
