Something got into my house!
I was storing my birdseed just inside the door of our screen porch...
Came home from the store to find a hole in the screen at the bottom and that something had gotten in and snacked on some seeds on my coffee table out there! Dragged the seed bag around a bit but no other damage we could discern.
My question is, do you think it could be a squirrel? What other critter would slice open a screen?
Needless to say we are closing and locking the glass door to the porch from now on!
Wish I could have been a fly on the wall seeing the cats watch that foraging critter!!

intruder!!
Raccoons and skunks!
"eyes"
I had that wonderful experience with squirrels/chipmunks, of course I had left the window open and the bag with the peanuts on the shelf(the basement is half above ground)and the screen is fiber-not metal. I could also have left a neon welcome sign. lol. The cat found it intereting to watch.!!
Since your "intruder" drug the seed bag around and it happened at night, I would guess a raccoon, seeing as how they are nocturnal
Would have had to have been a tiny baby coon, since the hole is just big enough to get both my hands through... but maybe it was a baby coon after all!
We've not had any more incidents and now that our new dog is sleeping out there at night (and sometimes so do I) I hope we won't have any more troubles!
you would be surprised at how tiny a hole they can squeeze thru.
Ok, now I know what is tearing up my plants and getting into just about everything on the deck,,,,,,,,,, HOW DO I GET RID OF THEM, out side of shooting them????
Get a live catch trap. You can carry them in the trap and relocate them to the woods away from houses. The humane society might help you and suggest what bait to use. I don't think they could resist peanut butter.
