I've got some sort of bug on my coneflowers and tomatos. The bug is leaving a white residue (powdery stuff)on the stems of the plants. Any ideas. I hate to put stuff out and would like an organic option if possible

Bugs on coneflowers
Jan, is it like foamy spit? If so, it's a spittle bug, just wash the bubbles off and the bug will sunburn and die. If it's more cottony, it's mealy bugs, or wooly aldegids and will require soapy water.
