MM, it is a pretty one. How many clematis do you grow?
My mistake on the pruning type. According to Raymond J Evison's book Making the Most of Clematis he says The President is Group 2. Quote " The pruning requirements of this group consist of removing all dead and weak stems, and shortening the remainder by 15 to 25 cm to where a strong pair of leaf axil budss are apparent. All old leaf stalks that still remain should be removed and all remaining stems should then be tied into position immediately after pruning. This should be carried out during late February or early March."
I guess my plant is proof that you can do just about anything with a clematis. See my post with picture.
