Bird-safe paints and sealers?

Hi all.

I've been toying with the idea of making a bird bath ..... not sure what with just at the moment - probably whatever the mood takes me at the time. What sort of paints and sealers are / are not safe for birds.

I picked up a satelite dish at our recycling depot the other day, with ideas of putting legs on it for a potting table, but after seeing some of the great mosaic work you guys have done, thought it might make a great bird bath ... hmmm ......or maybe....... :)
