this weekend I saw my first Cuckoos in many a year while down in Mayo. they were everywhere and weren't afraid of being watched.
I also heard for the first time, in all my years, a female 'bubbling'. it's more like a laugh.

You lucky wotsit! I've only heard that once, some while ago.
Can't be nice to be a reed warbler (or anything else they pick on) in the west of Ireland then!!
didnt hear any Reed Warblers but there were Sedge and Grasshoppers everywhere. there was an obvious lack of Swifts even though there are suitable nest sites.
