How do you make the most out of your closet space?

I must confess that I am a packrat. When we moved I got rid of alot of stuff, but there are things that I absolutely refuse to part with. At one time I had considered having a yard sale, but when all my friends asked me to make sure I'd let them know when it would be, I decided I must have stuff worth keeping and changed my mind. Packrat denial maybe??? I figure there has to be a way to organize my closet space better. Any ideas?
