I want to go ahead and use it, and just fight the ants later. I want to use it in a new bed, whatcha think?
ants in my compost
I've got ants in my beds, but not fire ants. They are the small black ones. They don't seem to bother anything. I don't know if fire ants would do any damage just by the way they build their "homes". The ants I have don't have much in the way of elaborate tunnels or if they do, they are very small.
these are just the black ants too, and I really need to move that compost to the top layer of my lasgana bed so I can sow seeds today. I think it would be okay, unless someone posts before I get my lazy butt up to go do it:)
tiG,
I have the same problem. However, they don't do any harm because all you have are the workers, and they need a queen to maintain a next. Most of the time they will disappear because they try (maybe succeed?) to find their way home
thanks so much!
