I posted its picture in the photo forum, along with a link to another shot in my journal: http://davesgarden.com/showthread/247107.html
Any ideas?
Caterpillar - what type, is it good or bad?
It's the eastern tent catipillar. They will eventualy start making those nasty webs/sacks. They have been eating my crabapples and now my roses. They can be destructive if you let them get out of control. There's not much you can do if they get high up in the trees, but you can keep them from tearing up your smaller plants if you keep an eye on them. I've got tons of them this year.
Wow - I didn't realize they were that BIG! Jeez, they're 2" long now. Yipes.
