Splashing - torrential rain

I've been watching the oak leaves unfurling while assessing trees for bats over the last couple of weeks - in fact lots of spp. The new leaves are just a delight aren't they, translucent and different colours to the mature ones. Oak are a lovely almost russety colour.

That's how I remeber the rhyme. Oak is starting into leaf here too, from the recent few months I think we may be in for a bit of a dry year, a couple of the drought years in the early 90s started out like this too.

here's a funny thing i heard about pronunciation (nothing to do with Scottish or Scittish for that matter :D).. you have to try and say 'beer-can' without sounding like a jamaican saying 'bacon'. lol. have a go!

The R's are much more pronounced in Scotland and Ireland, therefore the Beah-can doesn't work, but I'll def. try it on some of my Sassenach mates here in Hamburg ;-)
