Have you ever heard of...

Putting zip-lock bags full of water and hanging them around where you don't want flies?!! I went to a little sidestore the other day and they have a food court thingy with tables set up outside for you to eat at, well I noticed that there were zip-lock bags hanging everywhere with water in them. I ask the lady and she said it keeps flies away! Later I told my sister and she said that they do the same thing at Publix grocery store over in the Deli, again she was told the same thing!!! I haven't tried this yet, b/c we haven't got too many flies as of yet but I am going to try it as soon as it warms up and we start grilling out more. Can't wait to see if it really works! Has anyone here tried this?

ok i'll bite how does it work?

That is my question also Troy. I don't see how it would work if the bags are sealed at the zip top. I was hoping someone here had used this before and would know first hand exactly how it worked....so you and I both are clueless about it. lol I always thought that flies were drawn to water? I mean I know like if I leave dishwater in the sink during the summer, then usually there is a fly in it when I go back to it. I thought surely someone here had used this before, b/c these people were soo positive that it worked. I guess I am going to have to try it and see, then I can let you know.

Maybe they see their reflection and scares them to death.

Or, maybe the bag gives off vibration sounds like'Shoo fly, Shoo Fly' .....fly,fly,away.

LOL CoCo, It really has me baffled! I am really going to try it though

MOLLYBEE; forgot to ask,if they had these zip-lock bags hanging full of water;how where they hanging them without the bags breaking open?

They had them hanging like with a twine string. The had the string run right under the zipper part at the top, in one corner. The water wouldn't leak out b/c it was hung at a angle. Kinda hard to explain, you get the idea right??

Okay; got the idea now. thanks

Klamath Indians in Northern Calif solve their fly problem by lining the outer edges of their camp and community eating area with salmon heads hanging from the tree branches. Never found a fly near my food when I visited the Reservation. Course the smell was not too appetizing, LOL.

I think I might rather have flies LOL
