Baby Cattleya bud or bloom?

*tried to get a picture, but couldn't 'cuz it's so small....but*

My baby cattleya (about 3-4" tall) has great roots growing all over it (once it was repotted from sphag. moss to a bark mix, it went nuts with roots).

Recently, I've been watching another growth aimed in the upward direction. It's near the side of the rest of the leaves. Right now, it's less than 1cm tall, but interesting nonetheless.

My question is - How can I tell if it's a bloom starting, or a new leaf? Either will make me more than happy, because that means I'm doing good so far keeping it alive.
