using clematis as groundcover

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

has anyone had experience? I'd love to try this, especially now that I have several coming from the co-op.

tiG, my first reaction was NO! Then I wondered why I thought that? A search came up with several references to growing clematis as a groundcover, so indeed it can be done - some varieties are routinely recommended, but most sites acknowledge that most any clematis can be grown as a groundcover. Here's a link to a list of clematis sites (commercial and non-commercial) for your reading pleasure :)

I also found out you can also contact Completely Clematis with any specific questions about varieties or how-to: http://www.clematisnursery.com/faq.asp
