running linux

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)

A while back someone was asking about using linux as their operating system.

I switched a couple of months ago. First to RedHat 7.1 and then RedHat 7.2. Now I am running Mandrake 8.1. Mandrake is a lot more friendly for someone who is not a linux nerd.

Contrary to information in the previous thread one does not need a special machine. Any any machine running the expensive and buggy operating system can be converted. Mine came with Windows installed and at first I set it up to boot to either Windows or linux. Now I am strictly linux.

Many of the people at Daves Garden seem quite computer literate and should not have a problem. While one can download linux for free I have purchased CD's from CheapBytes. For a few dollars I can experiment.
