Dried Apricots & Dates. Okay for Birds?

Lorain, OH(Zone 5b)

I have some leftover dried Apricots & Dates from my Christmas baking, thier isn't enough to do anything with and I don't really care for them. I was thinking about putting them out for the birds or in my suet cakes. If they are not good for birds then I'll make-up the difference w/raisens and chocolate chips and make Oatmeal everything cookies for the guys at work.

Hi Michele here's some good info.....http://birding.about.com/library/blrecipe10.htm?...

I've fed them dates before, not the apricots though(I like them too much). I would chop the dates up into little pieces if they aren't already. I buy a songbird mix that has all kinds of dried fruits in it, even cherries. They love it, but will sometimes leave the pieces that are too big.

DON'T do it until it has been soaked overnight.
