I am almost certain this is the larva of an Abbott’s Sphinx moth but not so certain that I can say absolutely it is. It was on my Virginia Creeper and is about 3” long.

Yes, there really are quite a few variations from what I was able to find. Thank you for confirming it is an Abbott’s Sphinx caterpillar.
