The second species of Jaiphal, or mace or nutmeg, is the native Indonesian evergreen tree known as javitri (Latin: Myristica dactyloides). Tropical locations like China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Caribbean Islands, Sri Lanka, India, and South America are among those where it is extensively farmed. The tree is also the source of nutmeg butter, extracted oleoresins, and essential oils. Javitri's sweet and delectable taste makes it a common ingredient in cuisine.
