We are in Melbourne, Australia. Over the past week we have noticed approximately 2 of these per day flying around inside and today noticed 5.
Not sure whether they are flying in when we open doors or if they are living in the house.
We are worried that they could be a type of insect that could damage the house whether a termite or wood eating flying ant.
Can anyone identify this please?
Please help me identify this flying insect
This is a true fruit fly (family Tephritidae) - definitely not a wood eater! See https://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_acalyptrata/QueenslandFruitFly.htm for an example.
You really are so generous with your knowledge. Thank you very much!
I thought it is a red hornet. Students can get help from them to write a thesis if they feel stuck. I have used them https://lastminutewriting.com/thesis a few times now, and they are very helpful. When I first used them, I chose them because they were very cheap, but I used them because their work was very professional. If you also need a professional writer, you can visit them.
