Thanks for letting me know. We are doing our best to fix bugs as they are found. I'll try to reproduce this issue.

Nery, I was just looking at your PlantFile entry, https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1560409/
I clicked on the link in your post to see the actual PF entry mainly because I doubted your photo was really of a crinum. I stand corrected! It was. LOL I hope you enter a photo when they bloom. It must be striking to see the blooms against the great color of the foliage.

But the link in your PF post does not work. Oddly, t brings you back to your post not to PlantFiles.

So I then copied the link ( https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/164112/">Crinum Lily 'Menehune'
Crinum ) from in your post and tried putting the address in so I could go to the PlantFile entry directly. But instead up comes '404 NOT FOUND".

So then I just googled 'daves garden Crinum Lily Menehune' to get to the PF entry bypassing the link in your post. There are 5 entries of photos in PF entry Crinum Lily Menehuneand not 1 is of your photo you had just entered. LOL So now I am wondering if any of the PF pictures posted since the update have actually made it into PlantFiles.

So I think there is a much bigger problem with this update. I looked back at the last 5 PF entries submitted after the update which just happen to be all yours. NONE of them are actually in PFs. And on the ones I gather where you started the entry, the entry never made it into PFs as well as the photo you submitted.

The problems I encountered are not due to you, Nery! But due to a mess now on PlantFiles that has nothing to do with you!

Thank you. It’s a mess indeed. The asclepias is ANGUSTIFOLIA and I find no way to correct my typo.

The Menehune crinum’s flower is very pretty. I’ve had 1-2 plants blooming but look forward to next summer when perhaps the whole row (6 plants) will bloom simultaneously.

I also have an immature white crinum that is stiff and upright. Not as small as Menehune but smaller than Hannibal’s dwarf. All my crinums planted in east Tx have come from Nestor @ bulbs & more on eBay. A very serious and dedicated plantsman. Ck him out.

I adore giant crinum asiaticum procerum but no place in my small garden.

I do not like any crinum with straps so long that the break in the ground. It just looks messy and like the plant is having a very bad hair day.

I just HATE this look on certain crinums

I had an intense though brief flirtation with crinums myself. I bought a ton on eBay in a short period of time. Though the ones I really lusted after like the different colorful varieties of Crinum macowanii and Crinum graminicola, I could not find to buy.

I agree they can look so messy and do take up a lot of room. My main problem was they grew too well. In just 3 years they were crowding everything else out. The bulbs just went nuts growing offsets. I finally pulled everyone of them out and gave them to all my friends.

Though a friend of mine (Susie, known as Calalily here on DG years ago) did send me a huge, just huge Queen Emma, which also has great colored foliage. I planted it in my courtyard. It was my prize. But then one day I was tossing fertilizer out and some unbeknownst to me, landed on the top of the leaves just as they grew out of the bulb. By the time I noticed, it had burnt the bulb's center beyond recovery. I never dared tell Susie.

More update problems.
1. Evidently the PF photo entries are still not working. Now with the 5 photo entries RosinaBloom made yesterday, none show up as being accessible via the PF entry. It is like they were never posted. Plus the link in each entry does not bring you to the entry but just back to the same post.

Admin needs to start a thread where people can post the problems they come across.

Example
https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1560418/%3Ca%20href=
PF entry
https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/3651

2. And weren't we able to make a comment under each photo in PlantFiles before? I can't see where we can now.

3. Seems you can no longer search your dmail. Up comes -
Your D-Mail Center: Searching
nczone7b
-
Database error: Invalid SQL: SELECT a.id, a.endDate FROM p_latest a INNER JOIN p_content b ON a.id = b.tid LEFT JOIN users u ON a.senderUserId = u.id LEFT JOIN users u2 ON a.recipientUserId = u2.id WHERE (u.username = ? OR u2.username = ? OR a.subject like '%nczone7b%' OR b.body like '%nczone7b%') AND (a.senderUserId = ? OR a.recipientUserId = ?')
MySQL Error: 1064 (You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '')' at line 1)

Session halted.

4. And also I was just looking at this Plant ID thread where the poster puts up 5 photos of the plants he wants IDed.
https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1560423/#post_10555967]
As you click on 'next picture' to go to the next one, it just keeps repeating the same photo. You have to go back out to the main post to click on the other photos each individually to get them to come up to view.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

I have had the problem of not being able to advance to the next photo in a series in a single post. Had to do just what ZilyZily noted above - back out to main post and click on each picture separately.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I really liked it when you went into the Pics and ALL the pics showed, then you got to expand on the one that particularly interested you. scrolling left or right does not do it for me at all

I wonder if Admin even knows all the problems with their update. I thought since
IBtyen had posted in this thread, it would come up on his feed. But he hasn't even acknowledged these problems on this thread. Does IBtyen even know how screwed up PlantFiles is?

Castro Valley, CA

I emailed IBtyen re this page

I just looked back at the problems I listed on Nov 10, 2023 on this thread about the 3 photos Vossner posted on Asclepias Angustifolua on Nov. 8th.
Starting with
https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1560397/#post_10555886

I googled Dave's Garden Asclepias Angustifolua to find it in Plantfiles and guess what, only Vossner photo showed up. NO plantfile entry at all.

I suspect Vossner entered Asclepias Angustifolua as a brand new entry. But PlantFiles did not take the entry so she posted her photos to a void. They are somewhere out in Dave's Garden space.

LOL This 1 is so screwed up it is not even on Plantfiles.

PS Asclepias Angustifolua should be Asclepias angustifolua but if Vossner tried to correct this I bet she couldn't since the page really doesn't even exist.

Castro Valley, CA

Also the PlantFile photos Vossner entered today are screwed up too. Problems are described in post below Vossner's post.

And my last complaint for today is for some unknown reason, the PF gods decided to drop the poster comment they made on their photo from just below the photo down to below all the small photos that are also posted below enlarged photo. So you do not even see the comment when looking at the photo, you must scroll down if you even known to scroll down to see it and even then how would the reader even know what the comment was referring to? These comments often have important info in them. Including but not limited to, IDing the plant part, tell what season photo taken, where, and even gives copyright credit if the poster was not the person who took the photo.

Why separate this information from the picture?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I used to go to vossner’s images under Plant contributions and do a search by plant. For ex. Rosa. Then only the rose images I have downloaded would appeared. It is an EXTREMELY useful tool if you know you’ve downloaded a plant but can’t recall cultivar.

For weeks. It has been showing 404 error. Last attempt was looking for all the Rhipsalis pics I have downloaded

Pls pls pls fix this feature

Castro Valley, CA

I notice a lot of the PlantFile photos are now cut off, not showing the whole photo the member had entered. Many look distorted because of this not to mention parts are cut off.

This is an example which is easy to see the problem. See the photo enlarged? A bit blurry. See how it is cut off? Only the middle of the photo is shown in the enlarged version. The top and bottom are both cut off. Look down at thumbnail version of same photo below it and you can see how it is supposed to look.
https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/191605

It really makes so many good photos look like blurred bad photos.
