Bug found in house twice - beetle?

Oakland, CA

Just hope not some type of cockroach or if is dangerous at all. Appears to be black in color. One found on daughter's floor and one on kitchen counter. About an inch in length Maybe 1/4 inch wide. Have had windows open a lot lately.

This is a long-horned wood-boring beetle (family Cerambycidae). Unfortunately, it has the appearance of a species called the old house borer (Hylotrupes bajulus).
