Do you have many tops laying in wait for quilting Lindakay?

Pat, you must have needed to rest, nothing like a furry by your side..funny, I have to lay in center of bed so he can lay beside me but the minute he thinks I am sleeping he goes to end of bed where I’ve the feet raised, likes the height.

The cabinet is not white, they call the colour in chalk pain ‘castle’ it has a final finish 8n it and does not need any pre prep. Yes, think it will look nice with dark/light.

I’m still feeling closed in, can’t wait til tomorrow so I can put Valentines day away, doubtful I will take out St Pattys . Need to purge the country/farmhouse look..

I kept busy doing things today all while sitting on the couch so didn’t pay attention to messages, saw tonight there was a message from Midland Times wanting to do an article on me and my working with kids Re sewing and crafts..asked for me to call him.

Few hours early but Happy Valentines Day every one !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Betty.
How nice to have an article about you teaching the kids.

Happy Valentines day to all.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are suppose to get rain tomorrow. Betty I am still working on the garden but this is the time of year you get everything fertilized for spring. We got 30 bags of tree leaves mulched and spread around. Spent the majority of the day driving around gathering up perlite, dog food, spring flowers (violets) potting mix. Tried to find my favorite hydroponic shop and drove around for over an hour trying to find it. Do not know the name. Hydroponic stores sell to all of the marijuana growers and their soil and such is cheaper than the nurseries. Was gone close to 4 hours. Linda, I am so pleased Todd gained some weight. I believe to gain more strength, you have to move around. Need a PT person coming to the house to help him just do a little walking and maybe chair yoga. The insurance paid for it after Vern was discharged from the hospital.

Betty that is absolutely fantastic you are going to get written up to the wonderful things you are doing for the children. Hope you are feeling better.

Diane, so glad you are getting well enough to walk Chaos. That was a lot of washing up you got done. You also must be getting ready for spring.

Sorry guys, I got on here late. Ready for bed time. I will try to get on earlier tomorrow.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, awesome the paper wants to do a write up on you. Just beware, you might have more prospective students than you can manage. Don't for your sake over do.

Linda so glad Todd is gaining some weight. Hope it continues for him. We will spend Valentines Day at the hospital. Walt is having some heart issues and there will be some procedures to see where his treatment goes from here. We are both pretty nervous but also anxious to get some answers.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Prayers that everything goes smoothly for Walt and you get the answers you need.

Happy to hear Todd has gained some weight. Praying that continues and he can start getting his strength back.

The newspaper article sounds great! I agree with Karen, it very well might mean more parents signing up their kids!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sun is shining so I set myself up on coffee table to paint the cabinet doors.
With sun beaming through this one should be dry in a few hours then I can get 2nd door done so that tomorrow I can see what I took that possibly can be stored in a tote. Sad to say as long as mom visits the royal daltons will have to stay..have to put word out about all the crystal pieces I want to get rid of.

Karen thinking of you and Walt today, not a good way to spend Valentines Day..hope procedure goes without a hitch..sending prayers and as Judy would say “big arm wraps”

Not a wonder Sharon your gardens are so luscious, look how you feed them… that is a lot of supplies. Don’t know if we have hydroponic stores around here, perhaps Barrie.will have to look into that.

My Mother’s Day “to do” list will have to be getting and putting bags out near all the gardens so it’s easy for me to work in..last few years it’s rained so we didn’t get much done but this year rain or shine they have to get it done.

With regards to having more kids cannot add more unless it’s summer, I’d then cancel night courses and do a few morning classes.i only teach one on one so that limits adding anyone else

Karen, keeping you both in our prayers today. Keep us updated please.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I keep checking for update as well??

With the sun coming in thru window with great strength i think I want to lay down and pretend I’m on a beach somewhere

I think I will love my new cabinet, thinking just before Ziggy goes to bed i will dust, vacuum and wipe of the coffee table top that lifts in hopes I can give it a coat, not sure what it would look like but it’s always covered with decor that what to heck, could always paint over it.

Andrew from Midland times just called and asked a zillion questions, asked for some photo’s. Won’t be in this weeks paper as it’s published tomorrow, maybe the next. i have to send some photo’s

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Looking for Karen's update. Another quiet day at home today for me. Sharon will come over, not sure what project she is bringing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - how awesome & so well deserved that you'll be in an artiicle in the paper! Teaching kids a useful craft sure helps them, and the parents and you Should be recognized for it. Good for you :)

Got a phone call from Victim Services. Bob's trial date has been rescheduled for May 4th, 9am, but they said to keep my whole day free. Hope it goess through this time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying it finally goes through for you Susan.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers Karen..

Hope it does and that is the end of it Susan

Thanks for all the kind words, sent Andrew. Mega photo’s, likely he only needs a couple so he can pick

Need someone to hold the doors while i put them back on and don’t scratch the fresh pain then touch ups.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That turned out beautiful.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

That is really gorgeous, Betty!

I picked up the quilt today. It is beautiful. The woman selling it said her mother in law collected quilts, and she inherited them all. She's a quilter herself, and can't keep them all, so is parting with the ones she inherited. It's in perfect condition. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow, I have a dog training class that I need to leave for shortly.

I was hoping there would be an update from Karen by now. Prayers all is going well.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Still no update from Karen....

Betty, can't wait to read the article about you & the kids! How fun!

Susan, praying this will finally come to an end for you.

Deb, what a wonderful buy! I am sure that the DIL will be happy to know you will enjoy the quilt she inherited. Better that than sitting unappreciated in a box somewhere!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe Karen is sitting with Walt if they kept him and doesn’t have wifi connection. Those 2 lovebirds have been in my thoughts all day.

Pat, what did you and Sue get up to today, fun project?

Dianne and Sharon, did you get into mischief today?

Oh goodness Deb, her being a quilter must know the value of that quilt, lucky lucky you. The one mom made me is in the closet, if I had it out Ziggy would surely claw the cross stitches. Now you speaking of this treasure I should really get all those blocks mom did and get them quilted for the grands.

Just finished Giorgi’s lesson, she brought me a beautiful plant for valentines Day, very nice of her mom for thinking of me.

Earlier today I had mega things I was going to do, now, will get comfy in bed and call my mom, spoke last night but I’m sure she would like a valentines day call.

Wish I had chocolates

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just got home. Long long day.Walt is being sent to Cardio-thoracic surgeon. He needs bypass and valves repaired. Not emergency but urgent.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keeping you in our prayers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - do you remember giving me a copy of a Periwinkle quilt pattern, and you sent a template wedge? I hadn't made the quilt, but now I've found it, I'm going to. Mind you (put silly laugh in here) I have a lot of partially done quilt tops that I really should do first. You also sent a square template, and I'm not sure what it's for. It doesn't match the one that's labelled "periwinkle wedge". It has 2 lines drawn across it and it's a 3 1/2" square.
The picture of the periwinkle quilt is SO sweet, that I'd love to make it. It's rather straightforward & easy looking.

Thanks for checking in Karen, you & Walt will remain in my prayers. As so many of my Dave's friends are!

I LOVE quilts with lots of white but steer away from them because of my fear of getting them dirty. Stanley of course sheds his hair on everything!

I intend to drive to Portland on Friday and see Kevin & family. I will return Sunday. I hope to make the trip up to Sumner to see the oldest son, Dana & Carrie, in a few more weeks.

Sharon has a simple quilt top she started 2 years ago. It's space theme with spaceship and astronaut appliqued on bright solar system background. She put a "hose' between the spaceship and astronaut and did not like the way the hose looked. We bought something different, picked the old work out and I sewed the new "hose" down. After she gets everything stitched down, if we can find a quilting pattern she likes, we will likely use longarm on it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, dreary day, we’ve had rain all night so snow is quickly washing away and mud city is here. Feel sorry for Girgithe young lady who came sewing last night, he r school was going to go skiing today, she was quite excited

Thankful for your update Karen, we kept checking in, we’re praying and will continue to do so..was someone with you to keep you company..how long do these procedures take to get an actual date?

Susan I do remember , it’s one I truly loved doing, made 3 I think, mostly dor weddings. The template is to trave the paper design and mark them so you can sew fabric to. Bought wat was needed from MissouriQu kits, they have a tutorial on it..you know I’ve enough earthly colour I could make another..wishful thinking

Pat, you just never stop..what was the outcome Re 30 day notice, did you give them another month? Think I asked before, are places to rent easily found?? Here there are no places, many families are having to live like you have been, municipality has relaxed some rules and many are building are building extensions or upgrading their garages into small apartment.

Already know ‘what did I learn today’.. has to be no more making a long list of to do’, park out 1 or 2 things and if i do more than that is a bonus. Hoping to hand sew a piece of hide on a neck warmer, put away Valentine’s Day decor (2 totes) doors on cabinet and put things back into it..bonus project, paint top of coffee table.. have a student at 4..these things are doable.

Wow, the wind is strong, good for me as it dries up the melt and less likely to flood.

Coffee time and then put Valentine’s Day away..doubtful when the totes go to back shed St. Patrick’s Tote will not come out.

Enjoy your day..

Quote from Bettypauze :
Forgot what is on tomorrow’s list

LMAO - me too!!

I don't think my budgie would shed feathers on a white quilt hahahaha
I have a quilt top that I started through a Round Robin, with a butterfly-themed centre that I really need to do. Queen-size, and just need one more of my borders, then Do It!
I also have a Log Cabin one to do before March 16th Senior's AGM.
Almost finished the quilting of the one for our Wellness AGM on Feb 25th.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are going right at it Susan.

Marie came and we tried to get the doors on, they are sooo heavy so that was a no go

Put totes away with help

Gave 1st coat on coffee table, dry enough to put a cloth on it til tomorrow

Have Chinese in micro, will have lunch then start on the Hyde sewing

I know I’ve said it before but I need a daily to do list, a challenge, otherwise I’d do a lot of nothing.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Amazing what a new coat of paint can do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sure brighter in here, looking at fireplace and laughing to myself, wouldn’t it look nicer same colour..lol. Not

Greg came and Shouted downstairs that he was here to put doors on cabinet, said maybe he shouldn’t be here as Melanie and Noah were home vomiting, shouted back “home you go”.

Was going to give coffee table another coat but maybe not, going to have toast and honey and see if I’ve energy to take it on

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you told him to go home.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yep, you don't need possible exposure to bad virus!

I gave them extension of 30 days because of the puppies. The 30 days would have been right at the time they needed to be selling them. There are rentals but they are super expensive and they have 2 big dogs! Most places that will rent to a family with a dog state a limit of 30 pounds. 3 weeks ago (BEFORE I gave them 30 days) I had sent them links to 3 rental houses that the ad said they would accept big dogs.

I don't know what they will do and it's NOT my problem. If they had any sense, they would not gotten themselves into this situation. If you have sense, you do NOT antagonize the person who you are living with. If it were possible to sit and talk out a problem and they would have acted on things I complained about, they would not be in this situation.

Adam is trying to hold out to buy and just doesn't have enough of a down payment to qualify. I am truly disgusted that they have not saved more money than what they have. She is neither working nor going to school. She could have helped financially by at least working part time. Rather than paring down on all the junk they have, they have rented a storage unit and continue to buy junk.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, dark sky 28°F getting to 45° snow later in the day

It is nice seeing patches of grass but I’m not to get excited as it’s only mid February and we are got to end of March with snow, rain and sunny days.

Pat,, you just want to shake people like that, some don’t get support from family but you’ve done all you could to help get them on their feet, even become a prisoner in your own home so their behaviour isn’t from a lack of family support.

Do hope they understand the necessity to get out there and find a place so they will be out in next 30 days or is it less now. Are the puppies spoken for? Hopefully they won’t have to move with 3-4 dogs..if all are spoken for then those $$ will help find a place.

Did give the coffee table another coat last night, feels damp so covered it up so it can cure. When Ziggy and I go to bed I will take the cover off as during the day he loves to lay on it and has long nails.

Lordy, lots of people walking today, since sitting here at least 20 taking advantage of no rain, no snow.

Think I want another coffee and toast

Hope you all have a good day.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - not surprised that you're disgusted with them. I pray for you & your situation, nightly.
Today's our Senior's monthly meeting - serving soup & sandwiches. Next month is our AGM. That's what I'm making the log cabin quilt for a raffle for.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, will you seek outside participation in your raffle so you can generate more money? Can you display it somewhere where the public can see it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you do good on the raffle, hate to see it go for $50

As Pat said is there somewhere else you can display it or at least make some flyers or local groups like legion, church groups etc.

It’s cold out there, Marie was outside working so i can’t have her doing it while I sit on couch so dressed warmly and went out to help taking down the 5 Xmas trees I had up, even her hubby came and helped.. all Xmas cords in a tote and carried them to back shed, Xmas door piece now put away.

Ted decided he would put the doors on cabinet on, nice of him but thing doors are on wrong side, don’t close well so ok for now but I will have Greg look at it.

Got the hide on the neck warmer, vacuumed craft room and now break time?

Lunch time as well, was going to make egg salad sandwich but the bread I bought last week has expired soooo no sandwich. I need to buy wieners and buns, so long since I’ve had that..

Doctor should be calling me at any minute

This afternoon is a rest day, don’t think I have a little one coming, she came Saturday so think it will be Saturday before I have classes.

D9nt you find anything on tv is garbage, not worth watching?

Verona, ON

Gray day here. Waiting for freezing rain to arrive. No travels out the lane for me tomorrow.

This morning I went into Kingston and was disappointed everywhere I went. I went to Canadian Tire to get an electric wood splitter. Checked online there were supposed to be 12 in the store. Not a 1 of the type I wanted. They were all for selling me 1 that was $200 more than the one I wanted. Then I went to Staples - again I checked online to make sure what I was looking for was in stock - none to be found. Went to Home Depot for some light fixtures - again even though it showed online they were in stock there were none. I think they don't bother updating their inventory when they close at night or just as they open in the morning. I was not pleased but I sure enjoyed driving the Bronco.

Stopped at my local Foodland and topped up some things. If there is freezing rain I just won't drive. I am so glad I grew up in a home where the pantry was always well stocked. It sure taught me a lesson.

Betty I haven't had a hot dog in years. Warren loved them so I always had Red Hots on hand. We compromised when I made mac and cheese. I put cut up hot dogs in it but that meant I could add a tin of tomatoes.

Pat you should not be putting up with house mates who are acting like children. If I was closer I would come down and help you pack up their belongings and put them on a truck. Sounds drastic but that passive aggressive behaviour needs drastic action. We had neighbours where the guy who was the sweetest fellow with the best of intentions never got anything done that he promised. His wife was already seeing a psychiatrist and she talked about it with her doctor. The doctor suggested she ask Ron to do something and give him an end date to complete the task. If he didn't do the chore she was to hire someone to do the job. Ron hated spending money on "things" he said he could do himself. So Maryl considered it a victory if he did1 out of 3 tasks she asked to be done. I am so sorry you have been put in this position.

Susan I sure hope this is the last extension you will be faced with.

Karen how are you and Walt doing ?

My front room looks like a wood pile. I brought in lots of blocks of wood so I won't have to worry about getting out on the ice.

My knee is in bad shape. I guess I will try to see the doctor next week. She is a saint and has over 1000 patients on her caseload. She even alternates with other rural doctors to keep a clinic open 1 day on the weekend for walk ins. I'm just praying I don't have to have surgery.

Family Day here on Monday so it is a long weekend. Lots of free outdoor activities for people of all ages.

Sharon how warm were you today ? It has been mild here but this morning it was a shock when I stepped outside. By the sounds of the geese and ducks they think Spring is here.

LK how are you and Todd ?

Wonder how Judy is doing ?

Deb I am happy for you that you were able to get that beautiful quilt.

Didn't eat breakfast and just ate a couple of cookies so I think I will soon make dinner.

Stay safe and well everyone.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Diane, we are doing well. I feel really good. Walt is still sleeping a lot. We have made his appointments. Waiting for them to see what comes next. I'm hoping what ever he needs can be done soon. after tests, his cardio said he was surprised that Walt hasn't had heart issues pop up. Makes me nervous.

Pat, I'm so very sorry you are being treated so poorly. I do understand. Seems the help we tried to provide just caused resentment. I'm so glad we moved back home. I'd hate to be trying to deal with all this and be far away too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I hope things move along quickly for treatment for Walt. Being closer to family is a huge blessing.
Adam & Andrea looked at 2 homes today and depending on whether the sellers will help with closing costs, or if the home qualifies for the first time home buyer assistance, they may be able to make them work.
Dianne, giving a deadline & ultimatum was the ONLY way to deal with my Ex.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Todd is doing ok. We see the doctor tomorrow in San Antonio. Hoping he has some answers for his pancreas.
Take it easy on that knee Dianne till you see the doctor.
Karen, keeping you and Walt in our prayers..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Keeping you all 8n my prayers, think we all need a big arm wrap.

Sure hope Dianne that the word surgery doesn’t come up in your doctor’s appointment..with the retirement of 2 doctors a few years ago then 3 recently the existing docs have taken over their practises so my doc has over 2,000 as have most doctors..they are trying so hard to bring in doctors and nurses to no avail. It would be interesting to find out the number of doctors enrolling now compared to years ago.

We are expecting same weather Dianne, had planned on going to Barrie tomorrow but if what they say are coming our way… at least you have wood for the fire.

Sure hope There are more good answers coming you for Todd, Lindakay. Long trip, will you be spending the night?

Wouldn’t that be good news Pat.

You must be terribly worried about Walt Karen, has he been ill for awhile? Glad family is close by.

Doctor called this afternoon, said spraining a back will take a lot longer than a couple of months, he is pleased that the belt is helping, taking the meds he told me to so guess i just have to behave myself, can’t do much less than I am doing now.

He said my file is with the midland hospital surgical team, don’t imagine I’ll hear for awhile.

Must go turn off the lights downstairs, bring up a load of cloths from dryer and to bed.

Hate to wake Ziggy, maybe I’ll just make a lot of noise

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Glad you had a "me" day today, Betty, but what were you doing out there helping people who were trying to help YOU?
Pat, I agree with Dianne - you should put boundaries on them. Putting up with bad behaviour just makes them feel it's OK to behave this way.
Linda Kay - hope Todd improves.
Extension.......... yeah, he was arrested Nov 9, 2021, and here it will be Spring 2023 before his trial.........
Raffle - it's not a sanctioned raffle with the gaming commission, so we won't do it outside of the people who attend the AGM. The paperwork for a sanctioned raffle is horrendous. It will go for what it goes for. Talked to the Chairperson, who asked me what she should sell the draw tickets for. We decided on $2, or 4 for $6. She was saying 4 for $8, but I told her that wasn't an incentive to buy 4 lol
I spent time, but not $$ for it. I had all the material including the batting here, and I'm trying to do some stash busting. This is a Good thing, ladies. She had asked me what I wanted from the proceeds & I told her "nothing - I'm donating to a worthy cause".
