Hi, I own a small dog breed that I recently own. But I am little confused about the chemicals that I used in my garden to keep my garden pest free. Let me know if the garden chemicals can be dangerous for small dogs in any case. I am looking for some new suggestions.
Can garden chemicals be dangerous for my lovely dog?
Assuming you're using fertilizers, this depends on the type of chemicals used to make the fertilizer. Those with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium may cause your dog to experience mild vomiting or may start with diarrhoea if the dog ingests some of it. But you got to be careful of pesticides and herbicides coz they can cause more problems.
Basically to take care of your dog while gardening, it's advisable to wet down the fertilizers right after application before letting your dog run around the garden. Leave the fertilizer to sip into the soil and let it dry. It's safer to have your dog indoors for like 2-3 days before giving her the freedom to run around.
