Is this what I think it is? (Buh-buh-buh-Black Widow??)

Sacramento, CA

Found in my repair shop in Sacramento, CA. How do I safely get rid of it and how soon should I burn the whole block down to the ground? Sorry this was the best pic I could get before I ran away like a scared 5 year old.

Ir is indeed a black widow spider, mist likely a western black widow, Latrodectus hesperus. However, there is no need to panic; these spiders are not at all aggressive (I once accidentally stuck my finger into a web occupied by a fine, fat, female black widow, and she made no attempt to bite), and people frequently unknowingly co-exist with them. We operate a relocation service for spiders and scorpions. It consists of a handy small glass jar and an index card. Plop the jar over the spider, slide the index card under the upside down jar, turn the jar so the insect falls to the bottom and relocate.
