Watering question for Kashmir Cypress in pot

I hope you can help me with the watering frequency for a potted Kashmir Cypress, by now about 7ft tall and was planted in memory of my late husband and I see a lot of browning happening. I would be so sad if it would not survive. Many thanks for your help. Maya Brouwer-Jones (San Francisco)
