CLOSED: Little guy, about half an inch long

Deer Park, TX

Sorry for the photo quality, but it was very windy. I can’t tell if it’s dark purple, black, or dark brown. It kind of has a white “V” shape on it’s back. Beneficial insect or pest? Please help.

This is Mormidea lugens, another stink bug. It is not an important pest species, see http://americaninsects.net/ht/mormidea-lugens.html

Thanks so much! Does not important mean it’s not very destructive? I appreciate your help.

It has been reported as feeding on sedges and grasses, but not causing any economic damage.
