Just found this spider web and cluster of eggs on my children's playset. Obviously planned to leave it alone if harmless, but as you can imagine I have handy toddlers so want to make sure that it is harmless. The cluster of eggs is probably 1.5cm And the spider itself is probably 1cm with a web about six or seven inches in diameter.
CLOSED: Spider and eggs on cedarwood
The spider appears to be an orb weaver (family Araneidae) of some kind; these all are harmless to humans. The eggs likely were laid by a moth; they certainly do not look like an egg mass of a spider. The only spider in Colorado at all dangerous to humans is the black widow.
