Asclepias tuberosa mutant

Wayland, MA

This mutant arose near other A. tuberosa plants (you can see one wild-type to the right and one behind left). It bloomed a month later than the wild-type. Flower clusters of flowers are very small and the leaves are significantly lighter, yellowish. You can see how compact and bushy it is. No pods have formed - rather, it seems that the flowers broke off (I don't know the term for this). I see this with some of the flowers of the wild-type.
I have not seen anything like this before and wonder whether anyone has insight into what sort of mutation(s) occurred. Comments, insights welcome!
PS - the picture was taken late July
