The leaves on my elderberries are having problems. Can someone advise me what is wrong and how to help them? The pics on the white card are cut from the same plant in the picture. There is one pic of another elderberry with discolored leaves.
TIA
Need help for Elderberry - leaves curling spotting, and discoloring
If you've had a lot of rain and heat, as we have in Massachusetts, it's most likely a combination of aphids and a fungal disease. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Next Feb. or March, prune the plant heavily, discard the prunings (don't compost), and see what happens.
Elderberries like damp shade. If they are in a black nursery pot sitting out in full sun, this could be adding to the stress. Could be time to put them into the ground. I agree with the first comment - right on the money. Take heart, though - elder is tough stuff!
