Seeking name of plant -Ridgeway VA

Ridgeway, VA

Any help appreciated?
It has sparse woody stems on bush with lots of blooms shown in pictures. Growing in shade where left over lirope and dirt were piled up after moving here 20 years ago.
Thanks.

Hi SmilingnVA:

You have a variegated form of Flowering Weigela - Weigela florida 'Variegata'.

It can make a nice dense plant in VA, if you were to prune it back after flowering to a pair of leaves/buds, and let the new growth of summer fill in. I'd work on the rangey branches, and leave the lower/denser part alone.

It will flower more heavily in full sun, but seems to be performing adequately in the site you've shown.

One note of advice: this forum is typically for posts about questions for help using the Daves Garden site. Your identification question will be seen by more folks over on the Plant Identification forum.

Thank you for information. We will work on pruning after blooms are gone. Thanks so much.
