Hello all - I recently purchased this Alocasia Ivory Coast from a nursery, and have since noticed that there are yellow/brown spots developing on many of the leaves (see attached pictures). Any idea what could be causing this and how to stop it? The plant otherwise seems happy as it is starting to grow three new leaves.
Thanks
Alocasia Issues
Looks like fungal issues. Could've started with a nick in the leaf from some falling debris or almost anything to injure the tissue. Once that happens, then the wound is like any cut - open for infection. The leaf puts up a defense to stop the invaders and can scab over leaving behind a scar. If it can't fight the infection the spread of the pathogens continues. Remove the leaf for serious infections or live with minor scars? You could start a spraying program to limit the fungus/mildew or keep the surfaces wiped down. Give as much light as you can to encourage healthy growth.
Watch for spider mites as well since Alocasia/Colocasia/and Philodendron seem to attract these notorious pests.
