Hello all,
I recently bought a house in the Austin TX area and need to know about Crepe Myrtles. Specifically, a limb grew into an older branch. It sliced through the outer skin of this bigger branch. Should I leave it alone or cut the newer branch away. Will that start a rot in the bigger branch?
Thanks for any advice!

Crepe Myrtle TX
From the picture it looks like there is an open wound on the main trunk from the smaller branch. If that is true I would cut it away. But I have also seen branches / trunks merge together on crepe myrtles.
Thanks @teacup754! If I cut the smaller limb away is there something I can seal the wound with to help?
Whenever we cut them we never used anything to seal. Felt it healed just fine
