I’d like to donate this young tree to local elementary school for Earth Day. I don’t know what it is. Can anyone identify it for me please...and thanks
SOLVED: Tree identification
Where did you get this tree? Did you get it from a nursery? Did you get it from a roadside?
Regardless of identity: this young tree has already broken bud and is putting out spring growth. This is a terrible time to transplant - unless this plant is in a container.
It is better to wait till dormant season where you are gardening, then dig it up to be moved.
Looks like it could be a young redleafed Flowering Crabapple, or similar Rosaceae member.
I got the tree from the National Arbor Foundation as a tiny specimen years back. It is in a pot.
Can composting this treelet be an option?
