I have the native Opuntia humifusa. I could send you a few pads for postage, but I can't do it right away.

Thanks for the offer! Have you ever tried the fruit by chance?

Yes. The fruit ripens in fall and the taste is sweet-tart.

Probably makes a good jelly then I figure. Definitely let me know whenever you're ready.

Opuntia engelmannii and it's varieties.
Namely: lindheimeri, engelmanii, cv. Sanguin.

Hello,
I have been growing prickly pear up in Massachusetts for 8+ years. This year, my 2 year old prickly pear produced 8 fruits. I save the seeds & I also take 1-2 pads, and root then nearby in the 3/4 sand to 1/4 compost.
They also set fruit at the family cape house. One summer someone threw out a cactus, 3 decades later, last year at the cape, we harvested over 20lbs of fruit from 5 groups of prickly pear. All grown in sand & both in a location where it is hardened off & used to rough winters.
I will gladly send some pads if you would like?
