It is vitis riparia or riverbank grape. I had to cut down a tree too close to the house and noticed it. Instead of destroying it I pulled it down and sought to domesticate it. Also good practice for different propagation techniques.
This vine is tough and vigorous. There were 2 large canes but for space purposes I went with a single cordon or as I call it the combination cordon bc it is setup to do a few different functions. First vine maintenance, second the reason it is so low is so I can get shoots touching the ground faster. Distribution is one of my goals so I need clones in qty. I wish to do a grid layout on my property where there will be a section for every native species then let them do what they do. Afterwards it would make a great root stock as well.
My humble first year grape vine
