A friend in South Dakota sent me this photo of a beautiful bird that appeared in her gazebo. I wanted to see if I could find out what kind of bird this is, so that I could give her more information. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

I wonder if it is a Eclectus Parrot.

She should check around to see if someone lost their bird.
I hope someone can catch it. It will never live thru a winter there.

That sure looks like our bird. The bird has been taken indoors (quite tame). I made a screen capture, and will let my friend know. Thanks for your help.

Certainly an escaped aviary bird. The one visiting your friend is an adult female. The owners will be desperate to get her back.
