Do you recycle?
I used to crush cans at work . I would sell for gun stuff . Made the mistake of taking wife when I sold once , after that , my god child got the cans .
Now 6 nephews and 2 nieces save for gun stuff .
Glass bottles are put in recycle bin - not worth the work to resell .
We also compost and collect rainwater to use in our garden. In addition, we take short showers (turn water on, get wet and then turn off--soap up, shampoo hair, etc. then turn water on and rinse off). And, like many, we use cold water in the washer and hang most clothes to dry.
My city does recycle if we take our sorted recyclables to the convenience center at the dump, but Animal Control has a drop off for aluminum cans that they recycle. The money they get from that goes to support the programs there. That's where I take my recyclable cans.
1 & 2 here - recycle what we can, and try to avoid buying stuff we can't.

Costs big bucks to recycle here. Very few recyclables in the country with 2 dogs, 2 cats, a dozen squirrels, rabbits, possums and an occasional deer. We do have a hole in the ground that never held water, so chose to dump biodegradable to fill it in.
