We have several pairs right here in our wooded yard and right in the middle of the city! They've been with us for many years. They are especially noisy come spring and fall or maybe we don't hear them with the house closed up.
The owl below has been spending afternoons outside the dining room. It has a beautiful, shaggy feathered breast. I took a couple of pictures from inside and then went out to the deck. He/she is not shy at all.
